This app is designed for recreational use solely and should not be considered a professional instrument.

The iPhone is equipped with a compass that functions through the magnetometer, a feature found in all smartphones. By bringing different materials closer to this magnetometer, the electromagnetic field measured can be disrupted, resulting in varying values for each material.

Our approach involved examining the interference caused by various materials (such as gold or metal) and adjusting the algorithm to identify the composition of the object being analyzed by the app.

Operating the app is straightforward:

• Open the application and follow the instructions to locate the sensor on different devices (on iPhone 6, 6 plus, iPad, and iPad mini, the sensor is located at the top center; on previous iPhone models, it is positioned in the upper right corner).
• Place the phone on top of the material to be analyzed (according to the appropriate sensor location) and tap "CHECK" to view a video detailing the object's composition.

Avoid bringing magnets, speakers, microphones, or any object capable of altering the electromagnetic field close to your phone, as this could distort values. The app exclusively detects gold and metal objects. In case a non-metal or non-gold object is placed, it will consistently report that it is gold. Ensure only gold or metal objects are used for testing.
